On April 26th, Robert Thomas Silvey, 83, of Salinas passed away after his long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was in the arms of his loving wife Donna. Bob was a lifelong resident of Salinas having been born in a farmhouse below the Permanete Plant on February 8th 1935.
Bob is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna A Silvey. His daughters Julie Linette Silvey of Rockland and Annette Louise Silvey of Paradise. His sisters Carmen (Willie) Kersey of Paso Robles, Rita Ward of Minneapolis, and Sandra Orozco of Watsonville. His grandchildren Shanelle Silvey, Robbie McLain, Nicole Silvey and great grandson Brantley Martin Kelly. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Barry Thomas Silvey in 2015, his father Tony Thomas Silvey in 2011, and his mother Beatrice Katherine Silvey in 2002.
Bob served in the US Military after graduation. After the service he found his calling at the Salinas Rural Fire Department where he served from 1960 until October of 1988 retiring as Captain. He met his wife in 1976 and they married in 1978. They shared a passion for family, travel, hunting, fishing, dancing, golfing, and riding their Harleys. Their home was the hub of the family, hosting for the holidays, birthdays, and any excuse for a party. He was a loving, kind and considerate man who was loved by many. He touched the lives of all he met.
Donna would like to give her thanks to Bob’s daughter Julie Silvey, his nephew Cory Wayne Fields, and her sister Denise Silva for all their help caring for Bob.
Visitation will be held 3:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
Funeral Service will be held 11:00a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel.
Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA. 93907.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish can donate in Bob’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s hospital or the Animal Friends Rescue Project.
