Our Grandma, Perry O. Steinbach lived 91 amazing years and was reunited with her husband, Lester, on December 18, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born to John and Frances Ligon in Rockhill, SC. Her and her two younger brothers, Pete (Delores) and Herbert (Dolores) followed her 8 other siblings (Barnette, Marie, Brownie, John, Carolyn, Joe, Bill, Louise) out to Salinas in 1945. That’s where life began. She married our Grandpa, Les Steinbach, in 1951 and they had 3 children, Debbie Mingham (Joe), Steven (MaryAnn) and Sandy Jeffers (Ron). Gram was proud of her 21 years of work at the Telephone Company, and though she worked hard, she played even harder. There are countless stories of great parties, frequent weekend travels up to our cabin, and wild adventures with the other crazy Ligons. She was kind to everyone she met, never met a stranger, foe or a piece of chocolate she didn’t like. She loved her kids and husband... but we’re pretty sure she loved us grandkids even more- Anthony (Mandy), Elizabeth (TJ), Megan (Kelley), Christopher (passed in 2009), Alysa (AJ), Andrew (Brittany) and Stacy (Rob). She was proud of each and every one of us and her love and support was a constant in our lives.
We added another generation of great-grandchildren and her love grew more than we thought possible. (Tanner, Paityn, Caden, Jay, Karsen, Lauren, Benjamin, Evelyn Brody, Eli, River, Hudson, Emma, Carly, Brayden). Her kids, grandkids and great grandkids were her reason for happiness.
We want to thank Villa Serra for their love and support and Bridge Hospice for the comfort they provided. We also want to thank her brother, Pete Ligon, her sister-in-laws, Sag and Jeff, for their everlasting friendship and love. She was the sun that kept our world safe, warm and bright and for that, we will miss her forever.
She will be laid to rest with our Grandpa on January 3, 2020 at 10:00am Garden of Memories, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA. 93901 and there will be a celebration to follow.
