Martin Lorenzo Rañeses, 52, a long time resident of Salinas, passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2019. He battled his health challenges with the love and care of his wife Vivian and, love and support of his family.

Martin was born in Legazpi City, Philippines on November 10, 1966. He was the first boy after five girls, to the delight of his father; his mother doted on him. He received Bachelor of Science degrees in Political Science at Divine Word College and Radiology Technology from Ago Medical and Educational Center (AMEC), both in Legazpi City. He worked as a Clinical Instructor at AMEC before joining his family in the U.S. In Salinas, he worked as a Certified Nursing Asst. at the Pacific Coast Rehab and the Salinas Rehab Center where he met his future wife. He married Vivian Cuchapin on December 5, 2001 and they made Salinas their home. Martin and Vivian were blessed with a son, Sean (who passed away in 2007) and two daughters, MaeMae and Maloe. Martin left his last job with Goodwill Industries to be a stay-at-home dad for his two young daughters who adored him.

Martin loved his wife and children. He also loved to cook for family and friends. His sotanghon, roasted pork belly, lengua estofada, and caldereta were some of his specialty dishes.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Cuchapin Rañeses, daughters, Maryvean Loyse and Marloe-Vea, mother Delia Rañeses, brother Lemuel Lorenzo Rañeses (Arlene Tuason), sisters Emilie Rose (Henry Espinosa), Eadie May (Honesto Ragragio), LoriDel (Ramon Luzada), and Carmel Rose (Roel Rebancos) all of the CA Central Coast, Elaine Gay (Arthur Belen) and Maria Della Rañeses both of the Philippines, numerous nieces and nephews, and a grand nephew.
