Margaret Dorothy Angeline Wickstrom went peacefully to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at home. She had been a resident of Avalon Villa Serra Retirement Home in Salinas for the past five and one-half years. Margaret was born in Stanton, Iowa on May 26, 1913 to Hulda and Carl Albert Wickstrom. She was raised in a Christian home with her sister, Marie and brother, Joe.

Margaret attended Stanton schools and graduated from high school in 1931. She went on to attend Augustana Lutheran College in Rock Island, Illinois and received her bachelor’s degree in 1935. She returned to Stanton to teach school until she was called in 1942 to serve as a Defense area worker in the housing development for ship builders in Vancouver WA. She worked tirelessly to provide Sunday school and worship opportunities for the families there. She returned to Stanton after the war. She earned her Master's degree in Christian Education at Biblical Seminary in New York City in 1951 then moved to Tacoma, WA

She served as Dean of women and later as advisor to foreign students at Pacific Lutheran University. Margaret retired from PLU in 1978, after 27 years of service.

During her life, Margaret traveled to 33 different countries to visit missionary friends, former students and her family in Sweden. She moved to Salinas, CA in 2002 to continue her retirement and to be near her niece Carolyn Jensen and her children and grandchildren. She was active at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church and she will be greatly missed.

Margaret was never married. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Martinson, brother, George Wickstrom and nephew, Bernard Wickstrom, all of Florida.

Margaret is survived by her niece, Carolyn of Salinas; nephew, Karl Wickstrom of Stuart, FLA, and niece, Darlene Wickstrom of San Leandro, CA, and their respective families.
