Josefina V. Sabado passed on June 12, 2017, at the age of 67. Josefina, better known to her relatives and friends as Josie, Nene, and Um-ma, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on March 20, 1950 in Manila, Philippines, where after graduating from college, she became a Lab Technician and worked for a physician's private practice until she immigrated to the United States. In 1976, she married the love of her life, Melvin, and they were happily married for 41 years. Josie was an employee with the United States Postal Service (San Jose Branch) as a Mail Processing Clerk for 31 years and retired in 2015.

She was a strong believer in God who prayed the rosary daily and was a devout member of Madonna Del Sasso Church. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her first grandchild, Sean; watching basketball, especially her favorite team, the Warriors; spending time with family and friends; traveling; and cooking. She was famous for her delicious lasagna, eggplant omelets, ukoy, and binangkal that everyone enjoyed.

Josie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She never forgot any family and friends' birthdays or anniversaries. She was generous, gracious, thoughtful, giving, kind, loving, selfless, humble, gentle, strong, and hardworking.

She is preceded in death by her parents Gavino and Mercedes Vallar; and her brothers Alberto Vallar, Marcelino Vallar, and Manuel Vallar.

She is survived by her husband Melvin Sabado, son Christopher Sabado, twin daughters Valerie Johnson (Mark) and Jennilee Sabado; grandson Sean Swim; siblings Lucia Vallar Lasdoce (Bonifacio), Gavino Vallar, Jr., Jesus Vallar, Ramon Vallar, Rosario Vallar Yamamoto (Emil), Evelyn Vallar Cepe (Bodie), Edgar Vallar (Penny), Teresa Vallar (Walter); and numerous nieces and nephews.
