Joanne Arlene Pittenger, 88, passed away on February 9, 2020 at her home in Las Palmas Ranch, Salinas.

Joanne was born May 12, 1932 in San Mateo, CA and spent her youth in San Francisco and Boulder Creek in Santa Cruz where she attended and graduated high school. Married to Charles Pittenger in 1952 they resided in Fremont and San Diego before settling in the Salinas Valley in 1972.

Joanne loved and made her homes in Toro Park, Chualar Canyon and Las Palmas Ranch. Joanne loved God, family, and the friends she made through the Friendship Club and PEO of which she was a member. Joanne was raised in the Catholic faith and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Salinas. She loved spending time volunteering and working with kids in Junior Youth Club at church.

Joanne co-owned Advancetech Aircraft Maintenance, Inc from 1984 until her passing. She also held secretarial positions with the Monterey Peninsula Airport District offices, Hoge, Fenton and Appel law firm, Salinas High School, North Salinas High School and the State Board of Equalization in Salinas.

Joanne was a proud grandmother and loved having her granddaughters around her. She loved their sleepovers and making waffles for them! Joanne loved shopping with her best friend and enjoyed sewing, gardening, swimming, traveling, watching the SF Giants and hosting her Bunco parties during the Christmas holidays which by far was her favorite time of the year! Along with her husband Chuck, they were members of the Monterey Bay Chapter of the Ford Thunderbird club and the Clipper Club of Salinas.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Charles on August 15, 2007.
