Glenda “Paulette” Gardner went home to the Lord October 4, 2018. She was born in Sikeston, MO to Thelma Bullard and Paul C. Glover on December 20, 1945. She grew up on a farm in a rural area of Sikeston with her older brothers James Glover of Sikeston and Fred Glover of New Madrid, MO. Paulette obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, Cape Girardeau and her MS in English from “Ole Miss.”

While she was a DoD high school teacher in Frankfurt, Germany, she met her future husband, Major Steven A. Gardner, USA, of St. Louis, MO. They were married for 42 years and have lived in North Monterey County since May 1979.

Paulette retired from teaching in June 2006 and maintained a friendly relationship with many of her students who greeted her with “Teacher.” She was a member of First Baptist Church in Salinas where she was a generous donor and volunteer to various church sponsored activities. Paulette worked at building sets for the annual Streets of Bethlehem and participated in the pageant whenever possible.

Memorial services will be held 2:00p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 1130 San Vincente Ave, Salinas, CA 93901

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the SPCA of Monterey County.
