Obituary

Glen Kyutoku was born in Los Angeles on August 18, 1963. He was the first son of Kahei and Kayoko Kyutoku and had two younger brothers Ronald and Richard Kyutoku. He went to Chualar Elementary and Gonzales High School and graduated class of 1981. He attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo for two years. He enjoyed rock and stamp collecting. With the Future Farmers of America club, his team won the CA State Championship in Vegetable Judging. He was on the High School wrestling and cross country teams. He practiced Kendo at the Salinas Kendo Dojo and achieved a 2nd degree black belt. He represented the United States at the 2nd Junior International Competition in Hawaii and the Budokan Junior International Competition in Tokyo Japan. Glen was a dedicated Christian studying the Bible every day and enjoyed talking to people about Christianity. He was baptized a second time in June 2017. Glen was diagnosed with mental illness in 1985. Even with mental disabilities, he lived most of his life independently at the Mariposa Apartments in Salinas. In 2011, he started kidney dialysis. On August 2, 2017, he returned home to be with his family. He passed away on August 6, 2017.
He is survived by his parents, Kahei and Kayoko Kyutoku and brothers, Ronald and Richard Kyutoku.
The Kyutoku family appreciates all of the family, friends, and the staff from the Monterey County Mental Behavioral Health Program and the Monterey County Medical Health Programs for their support of Glen in the past as well as during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
Funeral Service will be 12:00p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at Struve and Laporte Chapel.
Burial will follow at Yamato Cemetery, 1199 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
