Obituary

Emilie passed on February 19th at the age of 101, surrounded by her family. Emilie was born on June 1, 1918 in King City, to Delfino and Anna Alarid. She resided in Salinas for the past 76 years.

Emilie is survived by her sister, Ruth Johnson; Son, Henry (Kathleen) Nunes; Grandsons, Paul (Nancy) Nunes, Bobby (Teresa) Nunes, Mike (Melissa) Beaudoin and Steve (Lauren) Beaudoin; Nephews; Dennis (Carol) Johnson and Joseph (Penny) Alarid; Nieces; Paula Donohue (Dennis), Anne Trevino, Kathleen (Dennis) Burke, and Mary (Joseph) Pezzini; Great Grandchildren, Max, Derek, Maria, and Janine Nunes; Trevor, Sophia, Kinley and Graham Beaudoin; Great Nieces and Nephews; Emily (Matt), Allan (Lauren), Greg, Lauren, Nick, Matt, Michael (Brittany), Jack, David, Bess, Joe, and Brian; Great Great Nieces and Nephew; Warner, Dolan, and Brooke.

She was proceeded in passing by her brother, Tondre Alarid, sister-in-law Yvonne, brother-in-law Alan Johnson, and husband Henry Nunes and husband Harry McDonald.

Emilie lived a long, family filled life. She was a secretary for the Salinas Adult School, where she met her husband Harry McDonald, retiring after 35 years. Emilie was an avid Dodge Ridge skier. She loved to travel, going to Europe, Asia, and parts of the U. S., collecting art pieces along the way. She was an avid gardener, doting on her roses. Emilie loved animals, both her own pets and the neighborhood cats that would drop by.

A special thank you to Emilie’s caregivers for lovingly taking care of her for the last three years: Moala Ngallase, Dolores Torres, and Celena Harris.

Visitation will be held 4:00p.m, to 7:00p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.

Rosary will be 7:00p.m. Friday, February 28, 2020 at Struve and Laporte Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.

Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA. 93907.
