Born in Tenafly, New Jersey
Resided in Carmel Valley, CA
Dorothy was born in Tenafly New Jersey to Robert and Irene Mason on June 9, 1918.
She grew up in the Los Angeles area, graduating from Beverly Hills High School, class of 1936. After graduation, Dottie became a fashion model in the Los Angeles area, as well as being one of the first models hired by Janzen Swim Wear to model their designs.
Dorothy came to live in Carmel Valley, after meeting Frank and Constance Bishop of the Laguna Seca Ranch at the Santa Anita Race Track in Los Angeles. Because of her love and knowledge of horses, Mr. Bishop offered Dottie a job as his personal secretary. Due to her involvement with the Laguna Seca Ranch, she traveled to various Race venues throughout the country.
Dorothy had many friends in the Valley as well as Indio CA, where she lived for 12 years. She loved to entertain “The Girls” at her pool parties. Never one to take no for an answer, Dottie always did it her way!
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents: her sister Miriam Zombec and her brother-in-law Walter Zombec.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Zombec of Semi Valley, CA, nephew Richard Rabes of Thousand Oaks, CA, and her dog Winnie.
She is also survived by her loving adopted families: Kelly and Sue Richlin of Salinas, Scott and Erin Richlin of Olathe KS, Kyle Richlin of Orlando FL and her “Great Grandson” Grady Richlin of Olathe FL, as well as Joanie and Lyle Linares and “Pal” of Carmel Valley. Her beloved “Winnie” was adopted by her dear friends.
As per Dorothy’s request there will be no services. We ask that you remember her zest for life and her warmth, and remember her with a smile!
