Doris R. Means, 100, of Salinas, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011. She was born December 24, 1910 in Bard, CA.

Doris was a homemaker and teacher.

She was a 4-H leader, member of the Buena Vista Garden Club, Buena Vista Grange, Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and unsung volunteer.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Means and her son, Richard G. Means.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Y. Means, of Springville, CA and Barbara L. Perry, of Spreckels, CA; son, Keith W. Means, of Spreckels, CA; 2 grandsons, 4 granddaughters; 3 great-grandsons; and daughter in-law, Mary Means.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA93901.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Struve and Laporte Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Pioneer Cemetery, 66 Main St., Watsonville, CA 995076

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Heartland, 2511 Garden Road, Monterey, CA 93940.
