About 50 years ago, Delma was very ill and prayed to the Virgin Mary that if she survived she would honor the Virgin Mary for as long as she lived. Delma recovered and keeping true to her promise began to collect Virgin Mary (Madonna) figurines. Delma's family and friends contributed to the collection which grew to over 300 and came from all over the world. An impressive collection, on several occasions Delma was asked to present her Madonnas during receptions honoring church dignitaries and special events. A display of the Madonnas will be presented at the reception.
She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore "Ted" A Tisdel Jr., her parents Roy and Rosa Scolari and her two brothers Lino " Rocky" and Melvin Scolari.
She is survived by her children, Bill (Sara) Tisdel of Monterey, Cindy (Tom) Fellows of Gonzales and Tom (Joanne) Tisdel of King City; grand-daughters, Camille (Doug Reicher) Tisdel of Syracuse NY, Tricia (Dan) Seduski of Salinas and Holly Fellows of Albany OR; sister, Doreen DeCarli of Salinas and step grandchildren Salvadore, Sophia, Angela and Alessando.
A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church, 235 Main Street, Soledad at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013.
A reception will be held immediately after the Funeral Mass in the church hall.
Burial of her ashes will take place at the Soledad Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. after the reception.
