Obituary

Barry Butler passed away at his home on May 7th while being taken care of by family. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer; though, he put up a brave fight, he was taken far to soon.

Born in Compton, CA. He was the gifted and beautiful son to Sarah Ann Swope, and Lloyd Wilson Butler. He grew up moving throughout most of the greater Los Angeles area of Southern California.
Barry passed the California state high school equivalency exam on May 9 1977, and directly joined the U.S Army where he was ranked Specialist Four.
Battery C, 1st Battalion, 51st Air Defense Artillory 7th Infantry Division. When Barry left the military he came into his own as a jack of all trades. He was a tow truck driver, an entrepreneur, a successful QC Inspector for aerospace components, and make-up editor for the Californian Newspaper.

Barry was truly a one of a kind who wasn't afraid to take anything head on. He enjoyed passionate political conversations, riding his Harley, taking drives in the car, getting avacado seeds to sprout, fireworks, family events, coffee, chili cook offs. He was a talented artist and avid musician which is something he passed on to his kids, and grandkids. He will be dearly remembered for his humor, the happy birthday voicemails, his trivia whit, and his warm presence.

He was preceded in death by Davey Swope, Denise Peets, Sarah Ann Swope, Rose Marie Swope.

He is survived by his three children, Amber Butler-Becerra, and son in-law Rolando Becerra, Justin Butler, Hunter Butler, and four grandchildren, Andrew Butler, Danielle Becerra, Madison Becerra, Camryn Becerra.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at the Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel on May 21, 2020. Barry will be laid to rest at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends once the shelter in place order has been lifted.
