When Kenny became of age, he proudly joined the Army where he served two tours: one in Japan and one in Korea. He received Awards and medals one of which was a Bronze Star. After Kenny's discharge he settled in Salinas. He belong to the American Legion where he made many friends through the years, entertaining us with his old school country music. If there was a band around you could bet that Kenny was in there playing and singing. He not only played locally at the Larry Silver Dollar, 5 High, Aero Club, and the American Legion. He also played with some well-known's such as Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Faron Young, Maddox Brothers and Rose.
Kenny was a simple man he loved his walks, beer and chocolate chip cookies. But most of all he loved is his friends and music.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arch and Lotty Hatchett, brother Bill Hatchett, sisters Sula Faye Phillips, Opal Reynolds, son Kenneth Joseph Hatchett, daughter Linda Williams.
He is survived by brother Don Hatchett of Salinas; son Rick Hatchet of Salinas, son Kenneth W. Hatchett of Idaho; grandson Christopher Hatchett of Idaho, grandson Daniel Hatchett of Idaho.
There will be a Celebration of Life Sunday, February 18, 2018 2 to 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 31, 14 W Laurel Dr, Salinas, CA 93906.
